Eckley Miners’ Village

On the Trail of History is a series of brief descriptions of PHMC's historic sites and museums.

Recalling the everyday life of the hard coal miner and his family, Eckley Miners’ Village is a unique living history complex of several dozen original buildings, in addition to a visitors’ interpretive center. Eckley was settled in 1854 as a company-owned “patch town,” which it remained until 1971. Today, seasonal events recount what life was like for an anthracite region mining family during the past century.
