An exhibition of 140 early photographs at the Library Company of Philadelphia will be accompanied by a new Dover publication. The Economic Development Council of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Box 777, Avoca 18641, has recently published Transportation in Northeastern Pennsylvania: 1776-1976. This 260-page history is illustrated and can be purchased from the council for $7.50.

 

Conscience in Crisis (536 pages) by Richard K. MacMaster with Samuel L. Horst and Robert F. Ulle is volume XX in the Studies in Anabaptist and Mennonite History series. In the book, interpretive essays and more than 300 documents from the eighteenth century trace the challenge that faced the peaceable sects beginning in 1739. Herald Press, Scottdale 15683, publishes the volume and has it on sale for $17.95.

 

Volume XXXIII of the Proceedings of the Lehigh County Historical Society has been published as a 75th anniversary edition entitled Lehigh Heritage by Mahlon Hellerich and Adrienne Snelling. The 195-page book is beautifully illustrated and includes a history of the society. To help celebrate the centennial of the town, John B. Yetter has written Steelton, Pa., Stop, Look, Listen (186 pages). The history is illustrated with over 300 photographs of the town and can be obtained for $15, plus $1.50 for postage and handling, from the author, 4229-D King George Dr., Harrisburg 17109.

 

A booklet containing reprints of fifty historical articles by Harriet Branton from the “Focus Pages” of the Washington Observer-Reporter is now off the press. The articles concentrate primarily on the history of the southwestern corner of the Commonwealth.
