March 14 is Charter Day in PennÂsylvania. 301 years ago, William Penn founded “Penn’s Woods.” So, on March 14, the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission is opening its doors across the state and inviting you to take a FREE look at Pennsylvania’s history. And have we got history! From east to west and north to south. From battleships to battlegrounds, railroads to coal towns. Bring the whole family and enjoy the day – FREE! It’s our way of bringing in a new season and saying “Happy Birthday Pennsylvania!”
