Most of the maps were originally published a century ago by F. W. Beers & Company, A. Pomeroy, and others.
An Architectural Study of the Ancient Borough of Huntingdon has been written and published by Nancy S. Shedd, Petersburg. Described as a model study in documenting a historic district, the work has been supported by the National Endowment for the Arts. It is 135 pages and has 225 photographs and maps. The price is $10 plus state sales tax and 75 cents handling charge and may be ordered from the author, R. D., Petersburg 16669.
A Pictorial History of Mifflin County in Pictures is 106 pages and has 200 pictures and depicts the history of the county from the 1860’s to the 1950’s. It is available from the Mifflin County HisĀtorical Society, 17 North Main Street, Lewistown 17044. The cost, including tax, mailing and handling, is $6.
The Pennsylvania German Fraktur of the Free Library of Philadelphia, has recently been published as volumes 10 and 11 of the Proceedings of the Pennsylvania German Society. Co-editors are Frederick S. Weiser and Howell J. Heaney. Both volumes are profusely illustrated with reproductions of most of the fraktur pieces in this collection, which is the most extensive in the United States. Inquiries should 90 to the Society, R.
