The Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society, 4338 Bigelow Blvd., Pittsburgh 15213, recently released A Bibliography of Sources for Civil War, Mexican War and Spanish American War Research in Western Pennsylvania compiled by Jean Sansenbaugher Morris, a professional genealogist. The 25-page work is priced at $3 plus 6% sales tax for Pa. residents.

 

The Accounts of Two Pennsylvania German Furniture Makers – ­Abraham Overholt, Bucks County, 1790-1833 and Peter Ranck, Lebanon County, 1794-1817 (238 pages), is a translation of original sources by Alan G. Keyser, Larry M. Neff and Frederick S. Weiser. The Pennsylvania German Society published the work and it can be ordered from them at R.D. 1. Box 469, Breinigsville 18031 for $10.

 

The Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc. at 111 Water St., Balti­more, MD 21202 has released two new books. Michael Tepper is editor of Immigrants to the Middle Colonies: A Consolidation of Ship Passenger Lists and Associated Data from the New York Genealogical and Biographical Record ($10, 178 pages) which is reprinted from selected volumes with a new introduction and indexes. The Pennsylvania German in the Revolutionary War, 1775-1783 by Henry Melchior Muhlenberg Richards ($18, 542 pages) is a reprint of a 1908 publication of the Pennsylvania Ger­man Society’s proceedings and addresses. All orders should include $.75 handling for one book or $1 for both. Md. residents include 5% sales tax.

The 1900 United States Census Catalog is now available from the National Archives and Records Service, General Service Administra­tion, Washington, DC 20408. Individual reels of microfilm for par­ticular counties and cities can be purchased.

 

Stop the Evil by Robert I. Alotta is now available from Presidio Press, 1114 Irwin St., San Raeford, CA 94901. This 173-page illus­trated Civil War history of desertion, murder and execution involv­ing a Pennsylvania German volunteer can be purchased for $14.95.
